Acorn I/O expantion

Post by mikes »

I know the Acorn does not presently have an I/O expansion option.

I am interested to know if the PLC code can be used to control any spare I/O pins on the Beaglebone Green? This would require being able to set the I/O pins mode (input/output, open collector, etc.). I know this would not be a mainstream use case, as additional hardware is needed, which would potentially require modify the Acorn, and void any warranty. However, assuming you had the desire and knowledge, is it possible?

we are investigating several Acorn I/O expansion options at the moment and plan on adding an I/O expansion option to Acorn in the future.

Goals
USB connectivity adds additional I/O and possible Analog In/Out
Low Cost
Good performance
Works with existing Acorn PLC program language

That does sound awesome. Not that I will probably need it anytime soon but still be good to have that capabilities.
