CNC12 G-codes

Post by trottrr50 »

When I first looked at the g-code sets for the mill and the lathe I was thrilled to see g70 and g71 (Profiling codes) for the lathe. Something that is sorely missing from Mach.

Two codes that I used in a community college course that used a HAAS machine (mill) were, g12 and g13 (circular pockets CW and CCW). Are there any plans to add these codes down the road?

Question on the offline version off Intercon. Does this program do both mill and lathe programming for the $99 price?

I think it does. I have it on a PC at my day job & I'm pretty sure I saw both icons on the desktop. I'm at home today (snow & ice everywhere) or I'd make sure for you. Somebody will come along & verify.

My version does but I have had it for years and it was $275 back then. It also works (USB Key) on new versions of the software so far.
Haven't tried it on cnc12 my Acorn is shipping today.

yes, offline intercon for $99 gets you both mill and lathe intercon for use on a "offline" pc.
offline pc = a pc not connected to an Acorn, Oak or Allin1DC board.
you can download the free version of offline intercon which is limited to 20 lines of intercon until you plug in the USB dongle then it is unlimited.

I've gone to the link listed above and I can't see anything to download the free version of Intercon.

So I have to ask: Does it download with CNC12 when you download it?

I'd like to buy the $99.00 version and I can find the link to buy it but not the link to the software.

So what's the deal?

IF anyone is supposed to understand that when it says right below what you circled (not for Acorn) and then is say it is CNC11, and we are running CNC12.

The zip file says nothing about being for CNC12 or including offline Intercon!

So what happens when we download this file and unzip it. Do we screw up our CNC12 install?

Not clear at all and I'm a retired Engineer who wrote operational manuals for Very Large projects! I would have been fired for writing something this unclear.

WOW! I'm sure glad I did not download it as I use a fairly new touch screen laptop to run my CNC12 setup. I wanted to use the same laptop to do offline programming in Intercon while I sat in my recliner.

I guess I'll have to wait until I get a dedicated PC for the Mill and then change the laptop to an "offline" setup.

Ok, give yourself a raise for clearing that up,

The offline Intercon works from the directory Milldemo for the mill and Lathedemo for the lathe. The Acorn runs from the directory CNCM for the mill and the CNCT for the lathe. You can run both on the same system because the offline uses different directories. The offline does use the intercom directory for the mill and the icn_lath Directory for the lathe. When installing it does not overwrite anything in these 2 directories. It may add additional sample Intercon files.

The CNC11 Mill Demo/Offline Intercon and the CNC111 Lathe Demo/offline Intercon will work with the Acorn CNC12. When you open up the down load and run it you will get a screen with 4 options after accepting the terms of agreement. The first 2 are for the Mill offline and the Lathe offline. Check the box for which system you have. DO NOT check the 3rd and 4th option as these will overwrite the CNCM and/or the CNCT directories. When you open up the Offline Intercon it will look and operate just like on the control coming up to the Main screen. The main screen for the the offline will have some instructions that will always appear on it.
