Ran through the procedure again. Only difference was that there was no cnct directory although the procedure said to save it.

When I started up CNC12 I got 406 eStop detected and error opening mpu.plc. The eStop error was due to the way I have defined this input but it also told me that my original settings did not make it over. Given all of the mistakes I made in the previous installs, I'm not surprised.

Using the screen shots of the Wizard before the install, I manually updated all screens and did a save. Then I power cycled both the CNCPC and the Acorn. CNC12 then came up clean. I did home it and all seems normal now.

See anything wrong Keith?

so you are up and running?

fyi..

CNCT = CNC12 LATHE.. you don't have a lathe

the mpu.plc missing is cnc12 being started without a PLC program since the user hasn't run the Wizard and pressed "write settings to CNC control configuration>

As far as I can tell, all is working normally. I'll certainly let you know if I have any problems.

Thanks for the help.

I just discovered than all of my screw mapping data has been zeroed out.

From TB058 (Rev2) - Manually Creating Ballscrew Compensation Tables:

"Leadscrew compensation data files have names in the form cnc10?.tab, where "?" is the lowercase axis label
"x", "y", "z", etc. For example cnc10x.tab, cnc10y.tab, cnc10z.tab. The file name is case sensitive."

Is it safe to move these files from the old directory to the new one?

Thanks,

Rick

I went back to my original backed up cncm directory, collected the three files, and replaced the empty ones in the working cncm directory. Now all of my hard earned screw mapping data is back in place.

So if I had just followed the install instructions in the first place, would the screw mapping data been saved?

the reason the instructions say to copy and rename the existing version of the cncm or cnct directory is just for this kind of special case.

eventually the report.zip file will be able to be used to instantly restore cnc control configuration settings when upgrading. but for now, since new CNC12 versions are adding significant features and capabilities you have to use the Wizard to reset the cnc system configuration when upgrading as the Wizard does more than just put the config numbers in the right place. So, please bare with us eventually we will add a facility to make upgrading even more simple than using the Wizard, so for now you'll have to spend the extra 10 minutes running the Wizard and copying special files if any (such as screw comp files, and custom macros) from the old directory to the new. (not the plc program or base config files!)
