From the Wizard, I do a "Write Settings to CNC control configuration" and get the message "Acess to the path 'plcmsg.tx' denied."
Starting at C:, I did a search for this file and didn't find it.
I did just update CNC12.
Probably related is that home doesn't work right for the Z axis. All the way retracted is home but when I home the machine, the quill heads for the table.
I tried power cycle but no change.
Any idea what is going on here?
Thanks in advance,
Rick

Re: Wizard Write Settings problem
Thanks Keith. I sure made a mess of this. With the damage done before I asked for help, I was unable to take screen shots. I was able to save cncm and cnct directories. Can I restore my Acorn settings from files in these saved directories?
It wasn't too hard to figure out that "CNCM" means CNC mill but had to guess that cnct was the virtual control panel. Didn't see any other options.

Re: Wizard Write Settings problem
CNCT is the lathe install directory. Did you install both lathe and mill versions on your computer?
Cheers,
Tom

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Re: Wizard Write Settings problem
I may have figured this out. In the backed up cncn directory is cncmcfg.xml. Same file exists in the new cncn directory. I renamed this file OLD_cncmcfg.xml in the new directory and copied the backed up copy to the new directory. My old Wizard setting have been restored. Then go to the Wizard and write these to the Acorn.

Re: Wizard Write Settings problem
rick, you are mixing files from two different versions. This may appear to work. but it won't.
Please follow the CNC12 upgrade instructions.

Re: Wizard Write Settings problem
Ok, I’ll try again.
Just to be clear, I did follow the procedure after screwing up that first time but the parameters shown in the Wizard were all defaults. When I moved that one configuration file, the values were correct.

Re: Wizard Write Settings problem
yes.. but the old config file is for version v4.08 and you installed version v4.10? please clarify...
if you copy old files from v4.08 cncm directory into 4.10 directory it may appear to work.. BUT.. since the 4.10 wizard did not create those files the old v4.08 config files obviously do not support any feature and new parameters etc that are new in v4.10. So, PLEASE follow in the installation instructions and USE THE v4.10 WIZARD to write settings to the CNC control config so that all the v4.10 cncm config files are running as v4.10
