I currently have a harbor freight x2 mill running mach 3 with a gecko g540 driver. I have the home switches for x,y,z connected in series off of input1 on the gecko drive. Can I do the same thing with the centroid acorn board leaving the home switches hooked up to the gecko drive? Would it also work hooking the same arrangement to input 1 on the acorn board?

After trying the acorn out on the gecko drive I am in the process of doing a cnc conversion on a g0704 mill. Can I use the same wiring of the home switches on input1 of the acorn board?

I like to wire the G540 to the Acorn board according to the "drive only" Acorn to G540 schematic with a modification.
I put three home switches (X,Y,Z) in series and connect them to input 1, use the wizard to set input 1 to "home_all"
this way the machine will home each axis using only one input freeing up two inputs for other uses.

When hooking the acorn up in this fashion do all the unused inputs and outputs need to be designated as not used?

when you select the "drive only" button in the Wizard it auto configures all the inputs and output for you.. try and and check it out .

I did try it but it does not auto configure for all three axes home switches on input 1. It auto configures for the x,y,z axes home switches on inputs 1,2, and 3. I will try again tomorrow morning after I fix a wirining error that I found this afternoon.

"home_all" not the g540 stock drive only configuration..
select "home_all" for input 1 after you select the drive only radio button..
and then unused (if that is the case) for input 2,3,4.

Can you wire limit switches in series like this is you’re not using a G540?

Yes. Just select an input as "HomeAll"

I am sorry if this is documented somewhere, I have been reading the CNC11 doc, but have yet to read anything about this. Could you point me in the right direction?

My question: To use a single input for homing all three (or more) axis, I assume requires backing off each axis after it's homing switch is tripped. Does this happen automatically in the "home_all" configuration? How does the back-off distance get set?

HomeAll is selected as an input in the Wizard and then Home and then "Home To Switch" must be selected in the Axis Configuration section of the Wizard
