ACORN STEP & DIRECTION (resolved)

Post by paulepc »

Running an Acorn but to get the steppers or clearpath to work I have to swap out the step wires. I mean yellow going to step only works when common is connected to step and the step wire connected to ground. Looking at a video online he has his working the correct way round.
Any idea's Thanks.

Paul,
You need to provide more data in your question, even a few photos.

The Acorn outputs Step & Direction pulses, these must go to a Stepper Driver or a Servo Driver. Those drivers have the direct connections to the motors or servos.

Thanks. The first axis on the acorn H2 connector has the step & direction outputs to the servo drive. on the clearpath it shows that the step input is on
black wire labelled input B+ and the B- it shows as yellow.A video on youtube link here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVuNCYhxudI&t=6s
Shows the yellow wire going to step. This dose not work for me. and the brown wire for direction, this also dose not work. but if I change the wires around. yellow to ground and brown to ground and the black wire to step and the white to A+ for direction it works.
This is more difficult to explain in words.

i would try wiring it like the Acorn schematic shows first.

I did follow the schematic in the first place but I could not get it to work.

Paul,
Did you use the factory cables for the ClearPath Servos? If so I would look at them closely to make sure they did not change the wire colors or something. Post a picture of your setup. These are normally pretty easy to get going.

I bought the molex ended cable from teknic. I cut off the molex because there is no stock in the uk for a matching plug. all the colours are the same.
Very strange. I also tried a stepper driver and I had to swap them around to. But it does work. Just happy that I have had to swap the wires.

Fixed the problem. I removed all the wiring and rewired it. I missed something but don't know what.
Thanks
