spindle db-9 connector
are pinouts for Acorn spindle plug identical to mpu 11 board db-9 connector?

Re: spindle db-9 connector
I would like to know how to wire this as well. The standard answer is "it is standard DB9 encoder pin outs" but if you don't have the "standard" then you don't know how to wire the encoder.
I don't see anything in the Acorn drawings for pin out and all the encoder I see on Automation Direct have pigtails that need to be extended.

Re: spindle db-9 connector
hey guys the Acorn DB9 Encoder port pinout is on every Acorn schematic. (and yes it is the same on Oak, MPU11 and Allin1DC)
here is the link to the Acorn schematics.

Re: spindle db-9 connector
thanks Keith
the spindle connector in my Romi lathe was wired for mpu-11
good to know it is a plug & play for Acorn

Curiously, why did you remove the MPU-11???

Re: spindle db-9 connector
Marty
I never got the mpu 11 Romi retrofit operational because of faulty encoder solder connection-
I discovered the mistake at the time of removal of system
this was my third mpu 11 system --but as I noted my shop is a hostile machine environment--no heat
mpu 11 employed analog signals---0 to +10 vdc-- for servo control--and I am a step and direction guy
digital signals allow higher diagnostic precision --plus servo drive builders--ie--Yaskawa--
offer step/direction input in addition to analog voltage
I had one analog servo motor runaway on a pricey Deckel FP4A mill--blew apart ball screw--never would have happened
with step/direction controller
