Bench testing. Spindle won't turn off(resolved)

Post by frijoli »

Nothing is connected. My screen shows 1000 rpm when in manual and I have 5 volts on the analog out. The off button doesn't change anything.
When I switch to auto it drops to zero rpm, and voltage goes to zero. If I do an MDI I can change the speed/voltage.

What am I missing?

Okay. I thought this was going to be an easy one.

Please run the wizard and select benchtest radio button on tab #1 and then write settings.

You have a single output defined as SpinRev, this is not a standard benchtest setup:

OUTPUT1 IS OUT1 ;&*;
OUTPUT2 IS OUT2 ;&*;
SpinREV IS OUT3 ;&*;
OUTPUT4 IS OUT4 ;&*;
OUTPUT5 IS OUT5 ;&*;
OUTPUT6 IS OUT6 ;&*;
OUTPUT7 IS OUT7 ;&*;
OUTPUT8 IS OUT8 ;&*;

Are you connected to a G540?

I have nothing connected.

I attached 3 reports

One at minimum speed in manual, one at max, and one in auto

Benchtest is meant to test communications only.

To test spindle analog out, select a config with a SpinFwd/SpinRev out. Try G540 drive only. Change EstopOk to NO

With nothing connected, I'd suggest max 1000rpm, min 0rpm.
Gear ranges all 1
You need to have the spindle enabled (SpinFwd or SpinRev on) to measure analog out.

Spin override 100%

Select "Auto" spindle mode (LED on) Use MDI
M3 S250 = VDC Voltage?
M3 S500 = VDC Voltage?
M3 S750 = VDC Voltage?
M3 S1000 = VDC Voltage?

Do NOT exit MDI

I was trying to see if I could test the spindle reverse output. That's it.
I'm not trying to test anything else yet.
What I am asking is, Why does the spindle speed on the screen say 1000rpm when it's supposed to be off?
And it won't turn off. That's what is concerning me.

Maybe I phrased the question incorrectly.

With everything disconnected in bench test mode should this be what I see? And there is voltage on the analog out.
