Hey Scot, I just found a deal on a KBCC125R on ebay for my mill project: https://www.ebay.com/itm/KB-Electronics ... Swj85YN329 It's $55 + $30 shipping Buy Now/Make offer out of Canada. I offered $35.00 & it came back accepted pretty quickly so he'll probably take $30.00. It's from a batch of pre-owned industrial machine pulls. They're tested & have a guarantee. If you're still thinking about going the KB way, it may be a deal for you. :D

Thanks, Milton. I actually saw that but was a little skeptical because it sounded like such a good deal. Put in an offer and waiting to hear back.

Hi Milton,
Do you know what the purpose of the horsepower resistor is? I’m hoping the eBay controller has one that will work for my motor.

Basically a current limiter. If you put a "1hp" resistor in and stall a "1/8hp" motor you will be surprised at the smell. lol
The flip side will not allow the motor full power.

Yep, it matches the max output of the drive to the max input of the motor. Marty may correct my understanding of it but IMO if the resistor is in the ballpark, it'll work fine. I forget, what's the wattage on you motor, 500 watts? If so, a 3/4 hp resistor's what you want. OMG, if you put on a 1 hp you'll black out the entire pacific area! (Just kiddin', unless it's WAY too small it'll be fine.) :D

Thanks for the info, guys. Hopefully, it comes with some sort of suitable resistor. I would think it might since it was operational at one point. My project list is getting really long again!

I've been reading the manuals for the KBDD-125R and KBSI-240D. I think I understand how it's supposed to be wired up to the Acorn. S1, S2 and S3 will be switched with the Acorn's onboard relays for forward/reverse control. P2 and F- will be supplied 0-10vdc through the KBSI-240D for rpm control. What I'm not too sure of is the forward/reverse operation works. The manual seems to indicate the control will decelerate/brake/accelerate the motor in the opposite direction by immediately swapping the connection to S2. Yet, for a manual rotation change, they suggest a on-off-on type switch. And they also talk about an anti-plug reversing feature...what the heck does that mean?

I think term "anti-plug" means that it prevents the harmful effects of simply reversing the (DC) plug while the motor is still spinning in the other direction. Kinda like shifting your car into reverse while it's still moving down the road.

As far as the manual switch question I think that refers to being able to switch from automatic (Acorn 0-10v control) to manual (5K pot) control of spindle speed. I have an automatic/manual switch on my ORAC.

By the way I got my 2nd KBCC-125R yesterday & it looks good. Yes, it came with a 1/2 hp resistor. I couldn't believe it when showed up before noon....from Canada. I ordered it Fri afternoon! :o

I hope to install it in the mill's control box this weekend and will attempt to do a schematic. Unit #1 on the ORAC works perfectly but as usual, I didn't draw a diagram when it was set it up with the C-11/Mach3 a few years ago. When I switched over to Acorn, I had fits connecting the unmarked wiring. I'll try to do better this time.

Thanks, Milton. Mine came in yesterday, as well. It’s quite a large piece of gear!

Manly work requires manly tools. These were designed back when ships were wood & men were iron! :D

ps: I picked up an electrical box big enough to hold it at Home Despot & mounted on the back of my ORAC.
