Acorn 14 foot CNC Router Surfboard Shaping Machine

Post by cnckeith »

Moving Gantry CNC Router uses paired AC servos on the gantry axis. Previously run by a Mach3 system the owners upgraded to Acorn CNC controller for faster smoother performance.

The machine is a custom built router that uses Delta AC servos, on all axes. The 4th and 2nd axis are paired and drive the gantry.

The photo is from yesterday, test cutting for the first time, notice CNC12 smoothing feature is on. With the Acorn system the Surfboards are coming out faster and smoother than with the old mach3 setup. Centroid's CNC12 G code smoothing is a key component to the better results by eliminating the faceted cuts that were in the Mach3 produced boards. The Acorn produces a better board while reducing machine time and hand work time while being reliable and eliminating scrap parts and wasted time.
