I'm using the same Longs Motor DM542A drivers on my lathe. The Acorn Leadshine schematics will work great. All you need is a 5vdc power supply for the driver logic as shown. Either a standalone PS or one of those combined 24vdc/5vdc units will work. I'm using an old computer PS for my 5vdc because it was already there & I needed 12vdc for my cutting oil pump. I wouldn't mess with the ESS...sell it!

I know this is an older thread, but was curious what the final solution was? I am facing the same dilemma now.
