That's really good pricing for those motors and drives. That would have been 3K per axis 5 years ago, maybe more than that.

I was going to get Clearpath but the rpm was 1500 max. I would have needed to replace the pulleys and make plates for nema 34 since that is the biggest they have in the SDK. The shafts are the same size .625 and the frames are nema 42. They should be in around the 15 of January.

I picked up my PM727V and got it unboxed.

When I was out in Pittsburgh I looked at his CNC mill 4 axis, almost would double for a Tormach 1100. 8000.00 Has steppers and Mach 4. He does not list them on his website. He had to have 500 mills and lathes stacked to the ceiling.

Am I reading right? You are going to drive your axis with 1.5kw AC Servos? That's about on par with many VMC's. Seems like a lot for the PM machine.
Look forward to seeing how it works out.

Just for future reference. Teknic just released a whole new line of ClearPath servo/drive units in the much higher power and size rating. All of them have a rpm rating of 2500. Keith told me about them and I checked with an engineer I know at Teknic and he confirmed what Keith told me. Although more pricey than the DMM units they seem like a perfect fit for the Acorn. They are AC powered so that is good.

I spoke to them on Monday, the only rating they had were above 2500 was a max of 400 oz/in. That's just not enough
and they only have nema 34 frames. He said they don't have anything in any of the lines for nema 42. Also he said, you could not remove the the front plate it is an internal part of the motor.
