MX3660/24V Relay/ Acorn Output pins?

Post by Fastest1 »

I am trying to get my relays working on my MX3660.
The relays themselves are Crydom 15-32vdc.
They work (the relays themselves) as intended when I jump them directly to the 24v power supply.
So far no matter what I do via the Acorn I am having no luck.

According to the MX3660 manual (which has proven to be garbage on more than 1 occasion.
http://www.leadshine.com/UploadFile/Dow ... d_V1.2.pdf
The manual says the DB25 pin that controls "Output 1" is pin 17.
I have tried seemingly every output on the Acorn wizard with no luck.

Not only that, trying to understand the sinking/sourcing requirements baffling.
The manual says it is a"sourcing" output. However it also claims the MX3660 outputs a 0-10v and 24v with no other power supply needed. That is BS too.
It seems straight forward but doesnt seem to work
On the other hand, I havent let out any magic smoke. Hope that wasnt a curse.

I am having no problems in the set up of all else. It is working great.

These just seem so simple but prove otherwise.

Maybe I am slow.
Should I be using the pins on the Acorn itself?
All of my switches and relays are 24v.
Should I just set the wizard up using my MX3660 in "drive mode only", then use the input and outputs on the board?
Would that allow me to run touch off pad and a probe even though they have different switch statuses?
With 3 limit switches, estop and a probe I was out of inputs to use the touch pad on the MX3660.
Opinions?

I would wire according to the the Acorn/G540 "drive only" schematic and config using G540 Drive only radio button in the wizard for starters. see attached.
and follow the video on this page. http://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_diy ... guide.html

Will an SSR work? (on output 3)?

Never mind.
I got the 24v relays working.
I see O4 goes to ground when cycled.
I am getting 24v + from the extra 24v + on the input
on the board. Is that ok?
Is there a reason it appears the 24v is not brought
into the other areas of the board (and require a
jumper to feed that section)?

The inputs are not wired to +24V in case the user wants to have truly isolated inputs. A second power supply for inputs may be desirable if the input wiring is very noisy. If relays are used with the open collector outputs, all the I/O can all be isolated. An isolated setup can keep a failure in one device from damaging the whole system.
