Thanks, I appreciate the lead.
Its mostly whether or not there is a big demand....

If you could show me how to make this work on my mini lathe and mini mill, I'd be interested. :D I'd like to be able to try rigid tapping...not that I need it but more because I want to. Btw, I have no problem spending money on my cheap Chinese crap machines.

Do they have ballscrews or screws with anti-backlash nits? The axis drive trains need to be tight.
Did you get your Acorns installed?

The mini mill has ballscrews. Still working on getting it done. No idea how to put an encoder on the spindle. No room near the belt drive. Might try one of those AC servos as a motor down the road but I sure don't like working with 220v power.

The mini lathe has ballscrew on one axis and leadscrew on the other. Haven't started the conversion to Acorn for the lathe yet. My video request was to give you or CncKeith time to make a video.

We'll...he asked me to do it....Keith is a really busy guy. I'm relatively new to CNC lathes but I was able to follow the operator manual and set the tools...I made about a half dozen pawns. 😀

If someone doesn't beat me to it (PLEASE?!), I'll follow the manual and try and demonstrate it. You can laugh at me trying. 🙃

Haha, but who's on the payroll at Centroid...um, CNCKeith? Thanks, Marty, don't know what we'd do without you around! Videos are quite helpful and it's the way of the future...I know you're aware of that. For lazy, not so smart guys like myself, there's nothing like watching and being spoon fed.

Yes, that would be Keith.
I'm just one of you guys, and trying to be helpful with the videos and info I've learned. I had the opportunity to be part of the Beta testing team for Acorn over the last year.

Yeah, I know, Marty...I'm just teasing. I know I appreciate all your contributions...you've already done way more than your share of the work and I know you'll continue giving until you can't anymore.

:D
Holidays are here and I'll squeeze one or two in as I can.....
Next one will be hooking up a KB Electronics KBIC-120 with SI-5 signal isolator on my D&M4 Benchtop Mill.

Sorry for the thread exhumation Marty but I've been thinking more & more lately about switching my lathe's KB SCR drive over to an AMC servo drive with the +/- 0 to 10V input. It's just lying there under the lathe bench whimpering "Use ME! I'll stabilize your spindle speed & maybe increase your low speed torque too!"

Is that circuit you're referring to makeable by us semi-electronically challenged people? I haven't found any commercial signal conditioners online for less than a couple bills. That's twice as much as I snagged the drive for & too much just for experimenting.
