No biggie. Just another her way to take care of it. Actually more straight forward. But you are correct, have to use the signal isolator on KB drives. The issue is with reversing them.

Just finished wiring acorn to automation direct GS2 spindle drive.
Followed the centroid provided documentation. worked great.
Just order a Breaking resistor of bay for $18.00 so i can get faster deceleration.

Out of curiosity, did you have the original encoder? If so, was there an issue interfacing with it?
I do have the entire assembly for mine and would like to use it if possible.

Repurposed above Acorn (#194) and an Ethernet 1616 to a UMC-10 with an 8 position tool changer.

For the spindle? Junk it. Buy the one that Kai used. 2000 line industrial encoder, just turn down the end of the shaft for it. (Its also the one on my DM3000)

I took some photos of how i reduced the shank on the mill.
