Does the machine work now? Is the turret Uni directional or bi-directional?

I know Scott did an ATC program for an ORAC while similar different. It uses Gray Logic, 4 optical sensors to tell the control where the turret its.

I found your schematic, it appears there are two sensors? One that might let the control where tool 1 is and the other may count the tool positions?
Also appears that you might be able to reuse the stepper motor drives? Seems like they take step and direction input?

More "Basic" ATC support is on Centroid's list of things to do to enhance the CNC12 software. There are so many variants of ATCs out there its challenging. Normally, a custom PLC has to be written. Very specifically how the ATC operates needs to be conveyed to Centroid. Centroid normally charges for this service. But as I mentioned it is on their list of things to do. So a little patience and we'll see what they come up with.

Are you capable of refitting your machine? It looks very nice and clean, almost little used.

Hi Marty,
Thanks for all your nice video on the Acorn :D

My EMCO works fine with the old controller with it only supports the older software like Fanuc 18 and Siemens 810/810.
I would like to get up to a newer cnc controller, I wores considered Mach3/Mach4 but Acorn seems like a good option with the CNC12 software.

The ATC is controlled with two optical sensors, one for tool possision # 1 and one sensor pulse for each tool number.

I can reuse the old stepper driver and spinel driver.

And yes, I can do all conversion on my own.

But I am missing information on ACORN ATC BCD support which is describes it the software option support !

As I mentioned its being worked on.
Your turret only turns one way correct?
6 or 8 positions?

Can you do a short video clip of the turret operating and post it?

This information will be handy. Now that we know, it has an optical sensor for Tool one and one to find the tools

HI,

The ATC is a 8 positions tool holder 4x turning tool + 4x cutting tool

I can't do a video on the turn tabel moving, i do not have the PC ware the EMCO software is running on and controle the Emco machine PLC.

Does the original control board take 24v in and convert it to the 12v for the motor? I noticed the relay on the board is 24v. Or does it just use 24v for control circuit and have a separate 12v supply in?

The original relay bord is getting +24V in to the relay contacks for the 12V motor, but on the board is add to resistors in seriel with the 12V motor to controle the current of the motor.
So there is running current to the motor all the time.
the current is also used to hold the turntable in the lock position

Ok, makes sense then. So the power in on the board is just 12v and the 24v for the relay must come on the other input connector which also feeds the two sensor switch signals back. This should work nicely.

Pic of the board just for reference.
