Harrison m300 with acorn centroid control
I'm a few hours into this build so thought I'd start taking some pics, I'm going for quite high end components and hopefully high end accuracy

A few more pics and a little more progress... hopefully the saddle and apron should be complete this week.
Going to order the acorn and pro lathe this week hopefully.

Nice work!
What are you going to use for motors and drivers?

Re: Harrison m300 with acorn centroid control
I've got 2 8Nm servo steppers with encoders on, they are not really servos, so not sure why they call them that! Also known as hybrid steppers i think?

Re: Harrison m300 with acorn centroid control
Those should work well. I want to try a variant of those on my next DM2400 build. No worries about lost steps.
Keep plugging along and keep us posted on your progress.

Re: Harrison m300 with acorn centroid control
I am following your progress with great interest. I have the same lathe in my shop that I always thought would be a good candidate for CNC conversion.
Are your plans for a automatic tool indexer ?
Dave

Re: Harrison m300 with acorn centroid control
Hi Dave, I've not decided yet but think i'm swaying towards a gang lathe setup, where you can have different pallets of tools say 5 or 6 on 1 pallet. Seems cheaper, easier and more accurate to me. All advice welcomed though.........
