I'm not an encoder expert by any means but when I plugged that number in out of curiosity, it didn't come up as an encoder. Maybe try again?

yeah..just make sure you get the higher count one..they make this same part number in many different ppr (line )
its nice to have a 2000 line encoder on spindle which results in 8000 counts per rev.
I see omron makes a 1200 ppr version of this encoder which would yield 4800 counts per rev. see if they make one higher.

Keith, the ebay item i've quoted does say its a 2000 pr encoder, I'm quite confused with these encoder figures! Here's the specs:

Material:ABS+Aluminum

Shaft Material: SUS420J2

Supply Voltage: DC 5V-5%~24V+15% Pulse(p-p) less than 5%

Current : less than 70mA.

Output phases: A, B, Z (reversible)

Resolution (Pulse / rotation):10 20 30 40 50 60 100 200 300 360 400 500 600 720 800 1000 1024 1200 1500 1800 2000

Starting torque:<0.98mN.m

Maximum speed:6000r/min

Operating temperature:-10-70 centigrade

Store temperature:-25-85 centigrade

I just ordered the OMRON Rotary Encoder E6B2-CWZ1X 2000P/R E6B2CWZ1X on Ebay.

Looking at the documentation of the encoder, I don't see a reason why it should not work, and for only 26 USD I am willing to try this encoder.

The difference is the output phases. the one I ordered has A A/ B B/ Z Z/ just as mentioned in the documentation of Centroid.
