Acornsix - retain existing AC servos

Post by JPT »

I have searched extensively but have not found a thread that addresses this.

I am considering an Acornsix retrofit on a Sieg CNC mill.

The mill uses Shanghai Electric Company AC servo drives and motors.

Drive model #: KT270-H-20

X axis motor model #: 60CM-8M01330-FE-c
X axis motor: kW 0.4, V-120, A 2.6, Nm 1.27, RPM 3000, Ins F

Y and Z axis data plates are not viewable and will require motor removal for positive ID.

I understand that it is generally possible to reuse existing servo drives.

My questions are:
1. Based on the photos and the data plate specs, does it look like it is possible to reuse these AC servo drives?
2. What are the realities, downsides, and extra work required to reuse these drives vs replacing them with known-supported AC drives?

Thanks

Edit: photos were not appearing as links, so made them attachments

Do you have manuals for the servo drivers?

For Acorn6 they must accept step and dir commands.

Yes, I was able to locate a manual for the drive.

I am a novice with servo drives, but this page may be relevant.
