Homebuilt tool touchoff block(resolved)
I could use some assistance if anyone is willing to help. I'm trying to configure my touchoff block. I wired it to the schematic attached. My tool is grounded but when I run the auto z function it doesn't trigger the z axis to stop. The spindle is grounded to the machine. This is a one wire configuration. Do I need two wires one with a clamp to the tool that goes to common and one to the block that goes back to the input? I was under the impression that I only need one wire for this to work. The input light on the Acorn board is not triggering when I touch the block to the tool. I'm learning as I go but if you need anymore info please feel free to ask and I will provide as much information as I can.

Make sure the machine chassis ground is connected to the power supply "COM" terminal.

I will double check the ground and upload additional info once I get home from work tonight. Thanks for the help.

Re: Homebuilt tool touchoff block
Are you sure your tool is grounded through the spindle? If you have ceramic bearings, you'll need a separate ground wire with an alligator clip for your tool.
Cheers,
Tom

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Re: Homebuilt tool touchoff block
I have it figured out. My machine was already grounded. I used some alligator wire extension and traced it back to the loss connection. I made a connector at the spindle so I could have a quick disconnect for my block. That is where the problem lied. When I connected the alligator clip to the bit and cable coming from the machine it would trip but when I clamped it to the block it wouldn't trip. The just of it is make sure you make good connections and everything is pushed in the connector the whole way. I appreciate the quick response from everyone, Thank you!
