A few problems I need help with

Post by Terry1956 »

Hi. Today was the first time that I powered up the acorn board with wired stepper drivers. I have been using the same pc all along. However today for some reason when I went start the centroid mill program, it had split into two parts. Centroid mill, and centroid control. I cannot get both sections back together or showing at the same time. Has anyone had this problem and what is the answer.
The other problem I have is that when powered up the stepper motors all make a loud air fan sort of noise, I have never heard that before. I am using the same power supply that I used before for all three motors. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong with that.
Third problem. I wired up the e-stop as per the diagram, but it does not function. What have I left out? Thanks.

Terry, please post a current report from your machine so we can see your settings. We need A LOT more info to be able to help you. What kind of drives? Power supply? What wiring diagram did you follow? What is you screen resolution set to? Pics of the control panel, etc.

Please see this post for what's needed to be able to help you.

Hi, please find pictures which I think will answer your questions. You will notice that for some reason the centroid program as split into two parts. I followed the wiring diagram for leadshine drivers. I am far from an expert on electronic systems. But did have the machine running under mach3 with a CNC-LAPS controller. Hope you can help. The display is set to the standard set in the centroid manual, it did show ok until yesterday.Thanks.

Hello, Terry
The CNC12 Mill and Mill Virtual Control Panel are two separate programs that run when the CNC12 software is launched. They will behave like separate programs. If you do not wish to use the VCP, you can disable it in the Control Configurations: F1-Setup > F3-Config > Password: 137 > F1-Contrl > set jog panel type to Offline.
Since your pictures show that you do not have any inputs or 24V wired into H1 or H4, your E-Stop is not working because it is not wired to an input.

Thanks for your reply. I would like to use the VCR, but displayed alongside the CNC12 mill. I am unsure how this as become split, and have no idea how to get it back on the same display. I have now added a 24v to the e-stop and that is now working ok. Is there anything else that I need to do to make this work. Thanks

When you say that you want to get them back on the same display, that implies that you have two monitors, is that correct? So when you launch CNC12, the main software launches on one screen and the VCP on another? If this is the case, the VCP has a button in the bottom-right labelled "PUSH to FREE" which will allow the VCP to be moved by clicking and dragging. Then when it is in a place you like, press "PUSH to PIN" to lock it in place.

I think Terry is confusing what appears in the Program List when he clicks Windows Start. They are 2 separate Programs but CNC12 when started will automatically start the VCP.

If this is not the case, please post a current REPORT.ZIP that Shawn has already requested above. This contains detailed information on your precise configuration. To create the report - from Main Menu --> F7 Utility --> F7 Create Report and save to your Desktop or any convenient location and upload here with your next post
Hope this helps

Hi chaps, i have now sorted the program opening in two screens. To answer the second part of my problem. I am using the following stepper driver and motor. The driver is a closed loop stepperonline CL57T (this is more then likely a copy, the UK is full of copies no matter who you purchase from) the motor is a nema23. Can anyone please point me to the correct wiring diagram. Thanks

All Acorn schematics are here. Use the search function to narrow it down to your Leadshine drives:
