Re: Spindle turns starts on CNC12 boot up.
As mentioned above my problem was the VFD was running before the CNC12 was booted.

At what point does it start running??
We need to SEE how you have things wired/connected, what schematic did you use?
What VFD make and model are you using?
Pictures of your control cabinet would be helpful

Here is the Delta VFD diagram. Currently I have Acorn Vout connected to AVI and COM going to ACM.
Re: Spindle turns starts on CNC12 boot up.
How do you have your forward run command (FWD) wired to the digital signal common (DCM)?
That needs to be controlled by a PLC output relay.
Also, how do you guarantee that the spindle cannot run when you press Emergency Stop, regardless of what may happen with the PLC signals? This is ideally done by cutting off AC power to the VFD, but is often just another link in the DCM -> FWD circuit (e.g., a circuit that runs from DCM, through the emergency stop contactor, through a PLC output relay or two, and back to FWD).
If you do not have a hardware emergency stop pushbutton; or you do not have a hardware emergency stop contactor or relay; or you do not have the spindle run command routed through a PLC output; then you need to review the sample wiring diagrams and come up with a new design.

Please post some info about your machine, how it is wired, report, photos, etc. We can't see what you are working on.

See attached example schematic of what Marc is explaining.

Re: Spindle turns starts on CNC12 boot up.
I had a chassis ground that was inadvertently connected the the DCM causing crazy stuff to happen.
My wiring is per the Acorn circuit diagram except I have a C86 board to deal with the CNCdrive drives. The C86 was using the output relay #1 to signal the C86 to activate. The C86 then sends a signal to input #5 " Drive Ok". To get around this I removed the C86 wires from output #1 and connected power to drive the contactor per the Acorn circuit diagram. My contactor is 3 phase so I connected the C86 signal wire to the spare contactor terminal. This allowed the contactor to switch on the C86 signal instead of the #1 output relay. Problem solved.
This router and VFD were in use with Mach4. I'm just updating to Acorn control. It seems like the spindle is fluctuating. It's been over a year since it last ran and I don't remember having this issue. Is this common with Acorn? Here is a video:

Are you using 18ga shielded twisted pair for the 0-10v?

Re: Spindle turns starts on CNC12 boot up.
I'm using 24ga shielded twisted pair. Shield grounded on one side of the VFD ground only. 15' run to the control box. It worked on the last setup.

Re: Spindle turns starts on CNC12 boot up.
The main difference between Mach and Acorn, in my opinion is that, Acorn is very near the mechanical/electrical noise..(typical for most industrial controls) Mach is PC based motion control which is not reliable for software reasons and hardware reasons, and cannot be corrected.routebot wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2020 11:37 pm I had a chassis ground that was inadvertently connected the the DCM causing crazy stuff to happen.

Acorn, if wired correctly to alleviate noise will always be stable once it is stable.
