Spindle Bug Found?

Post by Chaz »

Hi,

So, my lathe has been working fine since retrofit. My spindle speed was set to 2080 as this is the speed running in the gear settings I use.

I then realised that I could go up in speed, changed the gearbox settings and changed the spindle speed from within Centroid, changing the spindle speed to 2870.

I then started to have issues, I get random trips when pressing start. I lowered the ramp times to be sure.

Ive recorded the way the system reacts to me. Its as if there is a button stuck somewhere. I could not get it to trip in the video but you will see that at 100% speed (manual mode) I get 50% speed (Ive set it all back to the previous settings to be sure).

Auto mode, it runs at double the requested speed. Ive verified that at 2080, I get 10V and 50 Hz speed request on the VFD.

Any ideas? Do I have something enabled causing this? Apologies if its something silly, Its odd that sometimes Centroid will go into 'reset' mode when pressing + speed on the control panel (on Centroid).

You can also see that holding 100%, slows it down to 50%, but as soon as I let go the button, it goes full speed again. Some form of override somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

The report that you posted is not of the control in the video. Our database shows that the report that you posted is of a CNCDRO system that is running CNC10 v2.68 while the system in your video is of a CNC12 system with the virtual control panel.
When requesting support, please ALWAYS post a current report. Find out how to take a report from your Acorn, CNC11 or CNC10 system here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ecvg0VJp1oQ.

If your question is PLC, Macro or program related, please also post a copy of the program or macro as well.

Without the above information we may not be able to help and/or reply until the required information is posted..

Sorry, I downloaded another report to see what typical contents are in them, please see attached.

The wiring is fine, its not changed since installed. The only change was upping the spindle speed via software and having issues since then.

Its the 'standard' Chinese HY VFD. I am using the standard wiring as per your guidance schematics.

also your encoder counts per rev are very odd on the X axis. 162? what motors and drives are you using?

Yep, it is odd, but it works. The one multiplier is incorrect, but the combined formula works.

For X I am using EM806 drives but with old motors without spec. I have got two new Nema 23 but need to make brackets before I can fit them.
