Acorn touch probe routines

Post by ScotY »

I’m considering the purchase of a touch probe for setting part zero, etc. I’m not interested in digitizing stuff. I have the Mill Pro software and don’t think the Ultimate software is an appropriate fit for my hobby usage. Is there any way to allow just a few more probe routines with the Pro software?

Thanks, Scot

Scot,
Hello. User createable macros are part of the standard feature set of the Acorn CNC12 software software.
These are fun powerful tools that allow users to fully customize actions and features for there particular application.
And...for users that don't want to use the Centroid canned probing and digitizing cycles provided in the Dig bundle (for various reasons, maybe they don't want to pay for the convenience of having canned menu driven probing and digitizing /probing cycles or maybe they have a special probing/digitizing application where the canned menu driven cycles don't fit their particular application) For these users, creating their own Probing/Digitizing macros is the way to go as the capability is there included in the very cnc12 software you are running now, you just have to write the macro to tell cnc12 what you want to do with the probe. the cnc11 operators manual has an example on how to create a probing macro for your reference. The CNC12 Digitizing bundle is more of a convenience package, not a limitation. you can do everything (and more) in CNC12 PRO as you can with the DIG Bundle if you are willing to spend the time and energy to write your own Probing and Digitizing macros. Maybe some users will start writing Probing macros and share them here on the forum for others to user as well? -Keith

Hey Keith,

Cool, thanks for the info! I’ll take a look at the manual but this might be a little over my head. Probably keep my fingers crossed and wait for someone smarter than me to write the program. If you go from Pro to Digitizing package, do you just pay the difference for the upgrade?

Oh, and btw, I got something in the mail on Friday...very cool! Thanks, now I patiently wait...

If I sell my Acorn board, will it’s associated Pro license still be good for the buyer?

Yes, as the license is tied to the specific ID on the ACORN.
When requesting support, please ALWAYS post a current report. Find out how to take a report from your Acorn, CNC11 or CNC10 system here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ecvg0VJp1oQ.

If your question is PLC, Macro or program related, please also post a copy of the program or macro as well.
