Guys...
Here is some shots of my first Acorn build. A Grizzly lathe I have used for about 5 years. I have always wanted to convert it to CNC, but I hadnt found any decent lathe CAD/CAM software. Sure some that would work for CAD, but seriously lacking in the CAM department. I bought my first Acorn to use on another project and the more I got into Centroid control and Intercon, The more I wanted it on my Griz.

Since this is my first lathe, I looked over the other lathe builds here on the forum and basically followed them, with my own twists based an mostly stuff I have on hand. Here is a link to the video showing the control box and the lathe in its first hour or so of motion...

Since I am learning most of this from this community, I am not listing specs or part numbers, but will be happy to answer any questions that you might have.

Hi Gary
Just wondering, where did you get the limit switches?
Do you have part numbers for the switches?
I would like to buy some of them
Nice neat conversion !
I m waiting on the same lathe to be delivered to me.

Dbur...
Those are from a batch I bought on eBay: search: Riko PSC0802-N M8 Inductive Proximity Sensor D=2mm IP67 NPN N.O.
www.automationdirect.com has the 8mm (and 5mm) sensors also. A few buck more, but will allow you to select the preferred NC logic and pick a wire length. They also ship faster than Taiwan does!

A little more progress.
First shot shows an over all view with a calibration turning in the chuck, a boring tool calibration slug and "the Pawn" cut from Delrin. Monitor stand is in place, with actual keyboard location TBD.
PC is mounted to side of cabinet
Tool Holders engraved, are measured and tools entered in the database.
A couple shots of the X drive housing.

Nice work. I had one of those lathes. Unfortunately many issues and it had to ship back to grizzly. Now with a bt1337g it is a bit more complex to convert. Something I am debating while I am finishing switching all my mills to acorn. I like how clean it looks a very nice install.
