Runtime Error 231

Post by promisemachining »

I have a CNC10 Mill V1.51 system running on a Bridgeport Boss Series II mill.
I recently installed this system from another Boss mill that I had purchased. It has ran fine until yesterday.
I can not get the File Ops to come up under the Utility Menu. It was previously working and now it is not.
I want to delete some program files from the CNC 10 and it will not let the files screen come up. I am getting a Runtime Error 231 message.
This error message is not listed in the manual.
Also the last program will not let the graphics run. When I try to run the graphics it makes me go back to the CNC 10 start up screen.
The last program will not let the third tool come to depth. I have reset the tool depth settings for all 3 tools 4 times and it will not come to depth. Although the first two tools will.
It would seem that something has gotten corrupted. The Mill still runs but I am not able to get my job to run because of tool #3.
Help!

i'd suggest trying to create a report as soon as possible. go to util menu and see if you can create a report.zip file. this backs up on the cnc control configuration settings into a zip file so if you have to reinstall the cnc control software, its 'easy' to restore all the parameters that make the cnc software work with your particular machine. if you can get a report..then post it here so centroid tech support guys can see the particular hardware and software setup you are using and they will be able to advise.

Thank you for the response.
I was able to get a report saved.
I have attached the report.

I have made a new program and the graphics run. I also have the cutter depth figured out.
But File Utilities are still not working.

Hello promise,

In order to help you, we need the report.zip not the report.txt which you posted.

What, specifically, do you mean by "File Utilities not working"?

Sirs,
Zip File Attached.
I am wanting to delete some of the old g code programs that are stored in the CNC10 directory.
I press F7 Utility, then F5 File Ops, then F3 View. A window opens up with the directories listed. A: or CNC10.
Once I select one of the directories, then my screen blue screen goes grey and after 30 seconds or so I get an error screen.
See attached picture.
I have erased programs before. I am following the directions in Unit 7 of the M Series Operators Manual.
Have I accidentally erased something that I was not supposed to? Has the operating system gotten corrupted?
I was having problems getting a program to load earlier in the week. It would only load half of the program. I blamed it on the floppy disc. When I first got the machine I was having floppy drive problems and I replaced the existing floppy drive with a new drive. That seemed to help with the Linux computer recognizing the floppy disc and the programs.
I am using Bob Cad V21 for generating my G code. I have found that if I save the program then reopen it in Predator CNC Editor then save it to the floppy disc it will load up.
I am not sure what information is relevant to my problems. I may have several issues going on here.
Any help or information you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Promise,

Please post example files of both the original Bobcad output file and also the file as output from Predator

The file would have been the same originally. The second file might have been edited after I had ran it. Maybe forgot to turn coolant on or changed came to depth. It was about line 43 that it would not load beyond that.

Try reloading the CNC10 v1.51 software to see if that may help with your runtime error message. If it is due to a corrupt file, the update would install a good file. Rename the install.txt to install.sh. Extract the contents from the .zip files onto their own individual floppy disk in addition to the install.sh file onto all 3 floppy disks. Insert the floppy disk with the mill-disk1.zip files into the Centroid control. From the main screen press F7(Utility)->F2(Update). Follow the command prompts. After all of the files have successfully copied, reboot the system.

When requesting support, please ALWAYS post a current report. Find out how to take a report from your Acorn, CNC11 or CNC10 system here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ecvg0VJp1oQ.

If your question is PLC, Macro or program related, please also post a copy of the program or macro as well.

Without the above information we may not be able to help and/or reply until the required information is posted..

Sirs,
I have downloaded and extracted all 4 files. I want to verify that I am doing this right. I am up to floppy discs 8 on the first 2 mill-disc files. Your message said 3 floppy discs. It looks like it may take about 12 discs to get all these files transferred.

Sirs
I have tried 4 times to transfer the mill-disk 3 file to the floppy discs. It gets to the third floppy disc and gives me an error message that the file is too large to transfer.
I have re-downloaded this file from your message multiple times, extracted it multiple times.
I am stuck and not able to move forward. Not sure what to do now.
