spindle encoder setup

Post by srecord »

Is the pinout for the spindle encoder the same as the axis encoders? What parameters need to be changed to enable it? Is the atc2 umbrella manual dated 2004 still vallid for the plc program that comes on the CD?

Yes, the spindle encoder pinout is the same as the pinout for the axis encoders. If you check the operators manual under parameters 34 and 35 you will see a description for setting up the spindle encoder. Parameter 35 is for setting the encoder input number and parameter 34 is used for setting the spindle encoder counts per per rev.

There is a newer ATC umbrella manual:

Although a couple of the parameters may be different in CNC11 than noted in the manual (e.g., parameter 0 is set to -11 not 11 in CNC11), the M-codes and tool setup instructions still apply.
