Ajax reverse tapping cycle
On the reverse head tapping cycle, is it possible to multiply the feedrate on retraction say by double? I know some reversing toolheads speed up when they are reversed (like procunier and I think tapmatic as well). Is this something that needs manually entered or can I add a retraction feedrate in the G85 line?

Mike,
As far as I know, there is no way to do this in CNC11.
However, your profile indicates that you are using Mach which may or may not offer what you're looking for.

Re: Ajax reverse tapping cycle
I only have centroid running. Ended up buying the full license. Need to change my profile.
Eventually I will have both setup.
Mark that as a recommendation for a future update.

Re: Ajax reverse tapping cycle
most shops find out they are better off using a floating head rather than a reversing tapping head

Re: Ajax reverse tapping cycle
I need to get the speed of my reverse faster then on my VFD. What speeds start and stop do you recommend for that?

Re: Ajax reverse tapping cycle
I usually set accel/decel times to 3.0 seconds.
Always install a regenerative braking resistor.

Re: Ajax reverse tapping cycle
OK I have a ER32 floating tapping head now and the DC regen res installed for braking my VFD.
Is there a formula or table for figuring out good speeds for taps? 1/4-20, 1/2-13. 4-40, 8-32, 10 - those are the sizes I use the most.
Any advice on using the floating tapping heads?
