Dear friends.
I need to do retrofit in two machines. First, the machine is a EMCO cnc PC 55 mill (http://www.emco.co.uk/product/conceptmill55) because the software is not friendly with the operator, I am thinking to use Match3 with ajax. Second, A turn is a EMCO cnc PC 55 turn (http://www.emco.co.uk/product/conceptturn55) because do not work fine.
My question is about the mechanism (automatically tool change) and AJAX on the two machines. I need that those machines works fine with all mechanisms. Can I do with ajax?
Sincerely.
Juan Andres.

Our Mach 3 expert is currently on vacation and will be able to give you an answer when he gets back in a few days. But those two machines should work with our controls and Centroid software with a custom PLC for the tool change if you are interested in going that route.

Hello Juan,
The Ajax hardware is available with either Centroid or Mach based software and while the toolchanger isn't a problem with either the Mach or Centroid software, you may want to consider using the Centroid software in your case for the following reasons:
1. Currently, we do not support Mach lathe software so you will need to use Centroid software for the lathe and I think it makes sense to stcik with the same software for both the mill and lathe.
2. While Mach does support toolchangers, it's update rate on I/O is relatively slow (10 times a second) so you need to be careful to slow things down or, if that's not possible, purchase a 3rd party PLC in order to run the ATC. On the Centroid based PLC, the maximum update rate is 1000 times a second which can easily handle an ATC.
If you have any information on the motors/drives/encoders, please forward it to tech@ajaxcnc.com and we will let you know if any of it can be reused.
