Spindle Speed Encoder

Post by bobby.neal » Sat Nov 13, 2010 8:08 pm

I have a R2E3 Bridgeport and I fitted a cnc4pc index pulse board to the top of the spindle the card shows a pulse and i've checked it with a fluke multi meter and the htz changes with the speed and the output voltage is aprox 5v. I tried connecting it to mach 3 via the db25 parallel port pin # 15 with no success. I need this to work so that I can use spindle speed feedback for more accurate tapping. I want to use IPR instead of IPM. I think since i'm using an mpu11 with dc3io motion controll card that i should be able to connect the index pulse card from cnc4pc through the mpu11 card encoder input but i havn't a clue how to do that since the index card only has a single output and ground to represent the pulse. I'm having no luck hunting down reference material to aid me. If someone could help that would be great.
