**RESOLVED** 8 possition turret

Post by cncman41 »

I am getting ready to purchase a kit from ajax, i have sent e-mails, no reply yet. questin is will ajax/mach3 control my turret which is air lift/down lock, is driven by 40w 100volt reversable motor, by directional. locked possition is by magnetic proximity sensor, rotation is also by magnetic proximity sensor. any info would be appreciated.
thanks,cncman41

The short answer is yes, Ajax can drive a turret similar to what you describe.
I only know that lathe turret PLC programs have been successful for the Ajax MPU11 running Centroid software ,
but you appear to want to use Mach3.
Anyone else using AjaxMPU11 lathes with Mach3?

Hello,
To address with this question, the first thing we need to know is what type of turret you are using. incremental or absolute? If it is an absolute position type, how many inputs are needed for it?

Hi Kai, Sorry I didnot get back to You sooner but was having computor probs, and finally seem to have gotten those cured for now. As for turret do not know exactly what type it is, To describe how it works is, turret lifts by air, which activates a proximity sensor (magnetic ) I think, turret is driven by 2 pin capstan drive that has 1 or 2 ears that accuate the 2nd proximity sensor as it spins thru field, it is driven by 40w 100 volt reversible motor, when new toll arrives it stops rotation and drops back down to locked position, there is a row of teeth around approx. 8 in. diameter circle that has mating on base of turret mount, air holdes it down and looked, believe this deactivates proximity sensor for tool arrival, May have pictures or drawings of it if they would help.
Thanks Again,

Here is a link to a PLC program that runs an 8 position turret on an MPU11 system
