I'm at the point of my conversion of a mini 7x10 lathe i need to buy the PC. I'm looking at an all in one from best buy or the one Centroid sells. does anyone have any more info on the Centroid one? Just wondering how it compares to a similarly priced one from elsewhere.

From my experience you may be better off to stay clear of any normal retail outlet for purchasing a computer as they usually come packed full of extra installed software that will likely be very annoying. I have had better luck with either more generic suppliers or even buying refurbished / off lease computers as they are usually supplied with only a basic install of the OS.

The Centroid ALLIN1PC is set up ready to go and communicate with our Controls. The PCs run Windows 10 and are equipped with a Touchscreen. We do not make the ALLIN1PCs but we do set them up, which does involve removing all the bloatware that comes on them from a typical retailer.

I was asking for more information on the specs of the computer.

Dunno why the secrecy! The one shown is a Dell - but Dell doesn't seem to make it any more. Presumably Centroid have a load in stock still.

I found a used MSI Pro 24T 6M on ebay (UK) for £400 - works nicely so far. https://www.msi.com/All-in-One-PC/Pro-24-6M.html

I see that Shuttle also make a nice looking AIO machine which would have been my choice for a new machine. https://www.ambros.co.uk/computer-shop ... pc-system/

Minimum PC requirements:

I have found that most PCs with Intel 2.9ghz processors work. Strongly suggest solid state hard drives and 4gb of memory.

I don't fancy all in one PCs. Monitor craps out and you throw away the computer.
I tend to buy tiny footprint PCs and choose my own monitor. Intel NUC is an example of a tiny PC. Other manufacturers make similar units.
