Re: Pre-sales technical question

uses Delta servo drivers along with Delta AC motor I'm not an expert on these motors or drives but the decision can come down to one simple thing, can these delta Servo Drives take step and direction commands from an Acorn or do you need an Oak controller that is made to drive servos with closed lo...

Re: Up and running but can't get it to home.

You are very close to having this correct!

It looks like you are describing a setup with just one input needed and it needs to be set to "Home all" and then set input 2 as unused

Two switches in series only needs one input to home both axes if the one input is set correctly.

Re: ClearPath resistors?

Dave - That was my mistake. Centroid resistors are pull-up resistors as Richards points out, not dropping resistors. They insure that a strong high-level signal is available on the line until the active component pulls the line low. This helps reduce the effects of noise on the lines. Dropping resi...

Re: ClearPath resistors?

Centroid's schematic uses the resistor to drop the voltage. I have a question as the change from 24 vdc to 5 vdc and using a resistor to "drop" the voltage leaves me a bit puzzled! Isn't the recommended control voltage for the ClearPath Servos supposed to be between 5 and 24 vdc? So if th...

Re: Spindle encoder with transmission reduction

In a 1:2 pulley setup you are getting 2 encoder pulses for every turn of the spindle. That will not work as the re-entrant tap could start at 0 or 180 degrees out from the first pass. With a 2:1 pulley setup you are getting 1 pulse every two spindle revolutions. That pulse is always in the same spo...

Re: Spindle encoder with transmission reduction

It will not generate an error if encoder pulses are more or less than expected or if an index pulse is missed or spurious. IF your A/B pulses do not come in in the correct order you will get an error and the spindle will stop! I have an encoder that needs a proper shielded cable installed because i...

Re: Spindle encoder with transmission reduction

Hi all, after observing's Marty's most recent build, I started thinking about spindle encoder mounted on a motor rather then on spindle itself for the same reasons Marty did it that way. However, his belt gearing is 1:1 between motor and spindle where mine isn't. I have big pulley on motor side and...

Re: A Couple Turns of Motor Shaft then 9031 Errror

Well you don't give us much to work with here! I see in your location header that you are using an Acorn controller. So Acorn is not closed loop and if you are getting a drive error when you try to move an axis I'd look at the setup and see if you have anything wired to the fault inputs. Some closed...

Re: X axis gives drive fault

Weird that it would make a 1/4 turn before fault. No, not weird at all because the drive has a fault tolerance of so many pulses before it sends out an fault. 1/4 of a turn seems like a lot and it is but that only happens in certain situations. The fault is less if the drive has actually started to...

Re: X axis gives drive fault

The X motor will only turn about a 1/4 turn before CNC12 shows a Drive Fault If memory serves me, you are using closed loop stepper or what we call "hybrid steppers"? Yes? I use those as well and when the motor turns a 1/4 turn and faults out it is not getting the correct encoder signal b...
