Re: Software Part Design and G-Code Options

First issue: Most CAD programs just need a post processor to make G-Code that will run on a Centroid machine. The post processor just needs to be a post processor made for your machine. For example, a post processor that makes g-Code for Mach 3 does not run on a Centroid machine. Second issue: Learn...

Re: Found the limits of pushing the computer

I have a Honda Gold Wing that will do 125MPH (Limited at that speed) but I don't feel the need to push it till it breaks just to see if I can break it. There are best practices for good reliable CNC results and then there are practices that make machines unreliable. I think you have described a lot ...

Re: upgrade lathe

That is a manual lathe. To get any kind of accuracy, you would need to upgrade it to ballscrews. That entails making mounts, installing angular contact bearings etc. Along with fitting the correct size motors. I never recommend converting a manual lathe because of all the work it entails I second t...

Incredible!

Thanks for the explanation and the diagrams.

Re: Analog output/ VFD problem

Add the capacitor across the analog pair, as Tom suggested above. I'm happy to hear that this solved the problem but can anyone explain WHY this worked? What's the principal here? Is it a noise issue, impedance matching issue? It's hard to learn new things and apply them to future problems if all w...

Re: Analog output/ VFD problem

When I disconnect from the drive I get a totally fine output 0% is 0v 50% is 5v and 10v is 100%, the trouble begins by connecting to the vfd. If i disconnect the drive and test the drive with a potentiometer, also totally fine, so it is the combination of the two that makes the problem. Glenn Your ...

Re: Analog output/ VFD problem

One more test:

Disconnect Acorn 0-10v output from the drive and do this.

Command the speed to 0 and then read the 0-10vdc output terminals.
Command the speed to 50% and do the same.
Now try 100% and test it again.

What do you get?

Re: Analog output/ VFD problem

According to all the Fulti-Function inputs the drive is the source of the control circuit for S1-S5 as they are drawn with just a contact to close the circuit. Meaning no external voltage needed to activate these 5 inputs. See page 3.21. This does not affect the AVI input! (AVI= Analog Voltage Input...

Re: Analog output/ VFD problem

It is possible that the drive is set to "sourcing" and is providing voltage to the Acorn board which is also providing a signal to the drive. Try setting the drive to "sinking" and see if the problem goes away. If my memory is still working, and some days it isn't, a device set t...

Re: jerky movement when in the g code view.

It’s a 5x8 machine so I usually like to have my rapids set at at least 1500ipm. Just want to clarify that with the new PC that I won’t have any problems with the acorn software license. Do I just do it the same as I did the first time? Thank you Bill The licenses is tied to the Acorn board itself a...
