Re: Video Walkthrough of How I Use the Acorn
Maybe Centroid could find and promote a $200 touch probe. I have a couple of the drewtronic probes and just checked it to my ring gauge to within 0.0005. It's not particularly fragile - i've broken a stylus and dialed it back in. I'd guess they must be a small company because when you call them you...

Re: full/half duplex
the latest CNC12 v5.1 has Intel NIC related ethernet software improvements that should eliminate having to go to half duplex with Intel NIC's that have this issue. from the release notes. 56. Improved Ethernet Communications from the PC to the BBG on Acorn which should eliminate having to go to the ...

Re: Centroid Operator Control Panel Interface Board: USB-BOB
Beautiful work as usual, Uwe. Soldering all the resistors is the price to pay for the versatility of those open collector outputs. I do agree on how nice it is to work with cartridge style soldering irons. I recently got one for home and it is really nice how quickly it reaches temperature. That wa...

Re: Lathe Work/CNC12 and Post Processing
CNC12 runs on G code not cad data so yes if you are using a cad/cam system you will need a post processor. i would suggest start with Intercon. to get the basics down. then you can move onto the cad/cam and post processor world can your parts be made using Intercon? https://youtu.be/rEY3uKOuPZQ?si=q...

Re: Video Walkthrough of How I Use the Acorn
The acorn is quite a good value tbh. Edingcnc starter set is also around the 360 mark. If one opts for linuxcnc and wants to use a mesa card (like most people do) you'll also quickly spend 200+ shipping + a whole lot of your time. GBRL is cheaper but also much more limited. So overall it is quite a...

Re: Video Walkthrough of How I Use the Acorn
Yes a very good introduction to the Centroid Acorn. One thing I don't agree with in the video is Adam stating that the Acorn system is expensive. If one values their time at all the Acorn is a no brainer. The ease of installation and support is priceless I think. The combination of hardware and sof...
