Re: New to the forum

robtown, First off there is no such thing as a stupid question. Everyone working on machines at home are at different levels. After six months you will be giving other newbees advice, kind of how this works. You will learn a great deal as you read posts and experiment on your machine. You do not nee...

Re: New to the forum

IronHead Brew, First off welcome to the forum. If you search the postings you will find other people have successfully converted AXYZ machines to Acorn. Those machines were built heavy duty and when you get done you will have a very nice machine. As Marty shared you would be best off to find a frien...

Re: NO MOTOR MOVEMENT DMT556T Driver Learning through problems the hard way! Using acorn.

Jermmcdonald, Do you have more detail on what you hooked up the 36V supplies to? The Acorn only has the Step, Direction, and Enable outputs going to the driver. The 36V I am assuming you connected to the Leadshine driver for stepper power correct? The output signals on the screw connectors are open ...

Re: Limit switch diagram

The DWG file is a drawing file from AutoCAD. If you upload it we can convert it to a PDF.

Re: no manual jog

Glad to hear you have it moving now. With travel limits restricted that would certainly stop you, but it should have issued warnings, you were at the limits.

Re: Opinion wanted on z-axis

robtown, When you select a unit for your Z axis the first thing is to ensure you have enough travel as Marty indicated. The second thing is make sure it does not have backlash. Some units use a delrin plastic nut, other use ballscrew actuators which are very accurate. Something similar to the one in...

Re: no manual jog

Teg, Posting pictures of the various wizard pages will help provide the info to get you going. You might have things set correctly. If you hit the jog button do the DROs change at all? If you have the jog set to incremental it will only move a very small amount not even noticeable with your eye. If ...

Re: Hallmark ITTP Probe

That is a nice probe. The wiring will be very similar to the wiring for Centroids probe. Just look at this documentation and it should be pretty obvious what you need to do, using the manual from the Tallmark probe to identify the connector outputs. Re: 2-axis Sharp knee mill revival

Looks like a fun project. Those old encoders look like they came from England with that 44 international phone number. The label seems to imply they work from 5V to 24V. You should be able setup a scope on A or A/ or B or B/ and turn the encoder slowly and you should see a square wave output on the ...
