Why are there com/ground pins for each driver?
I am new to the whole CNC thing and have a limited view of the drivers out there. However, I was wondering what the use of the common pins are that clearly are meant for the drivers. As the interface lins to control the drivers are open collector, I don't see where a ground is necessary.

Re: Wire specs for Acorn to VFD
I would recommend throwing a scope on the signal lines and checking the quality of this signal.

Re: Wire specs for Acorn to VFD
Why is 18 gauge wire being recommended? These are all signal lines. Should they carry very little power.

Re: Power supply / plasma table / acorn
The multi power supply issue you are concern over is a bit different then what I think you think it is. The group having issues are using 3 PS. One for 24v for the Acorn, one 5v for powering the opto isolators on their drivers, and the third is the higher voltage and current used to power the steppe...

Re: Acorn dll or api
There is no API. Centroid is building a way to skin the UI to create a custom user interface, but from the sounds of it, it will all be done within the CNC12 application. This is not open hardware or software. There is a macro capability within the CNC12 software that allows you to create custom fun...

Re: Acorn dll or api
It's a closed system. You can right macros, and run them using g-code, but there is no API to directly communicate with the acorn, or CNC12.

What is that big box that appears to be some kind of display? The one just above the keyboard.

Re: will the Acorn be the best choice for this router
I think the lack of response you are getting may be due to the lack of detail you have provided about the unit. A picture is worth a thousand words, but it is difficult to derive the control needs from just a picture.

Very interesting... thanks for posting.
Is there a more common approach?
I could think of some pro and cons to each approach, what are you thoughts?
