Re: ACORN MILL CHALLENGE!
A belt driven encoder is a lot more challenging than a factory installed motor encoder. I think the rules for the belt driven 1 to 1 setup should be held up. No short cuts. No making up new rules as you go along. The reason for the belt drive is because a lot of DIY mills have air actuated tool chan...

Re: RPM pickup without Encoder?
So it looks like the only way to do it would be make a timing belt setup with a removable belt in my situation. The issue is the spindle moves up and down too in manual mode. So I would have to lock the quill (spindle) in alignment with the encoder drive and attach the belt when needing to do rigid ...

Re: Using Mach 3 Wizards in Acorn?
I will split off for sure. I hope Centroid has a way for splining shafts. I do a lot of splining and the Mach 3 wizard was quite handy for splines and gears even though the code needed to be tweaked a little at times. I'm really hoping for the best here. I did get pro if that makes a difference.

Using Mach 3 Wizards in Acorn?
Anybody tried using a Mach3 or 4 G-code Wizard and use it in Acorn? It seems most of us moving from Mach 3 would have a nice advantage in G code building using Mach 3 or 4 Wizards if they work correctly in the Acorn world. Seems they should. That would at least give us a reason not to throw Mach 3 o...

RPM pickup without Encoder?
Hi everyone, I'm new here and just ordered my Acorn. In the meantime I am getting a Win 10 computer setup for it and thinking about different issues that are popping up by converting. The most troubling is not being able to run an encoder on my CNC mill spindle as I can not mount it due to the air s...
