Re: Spindle motor reversing relay/contactor
Yep, it matches the max output of the drive to the max input of the motor. Marty may correct my understanding of it but IMO if the resistor is in the ballpark, it'll work fine. I forget, what's the wattage on you motor, 500 watts? If so, a 3/4 hp resistor's what you want. OMG, if you put on a 1 hp y...

Re: End to Acorn Introductory Pricing date is January 3rd 2018
I must be blind as I did not see anywhere on the site that there was going to be a price increase. I have been looking at purchasing the Acorn for a number of weeks now. It's none of my business Mike, but here goes anyway. :) Any good CNC equipment (to me) is expensive and a purchase of this size r...

Re: Latching circuit? Is it necessary
From a safety stand-point, a "magnetic switch" is the best, as it is impossible for it to turn itself back on. +1 on that one. Coincidently, I'm wiring up an A-B contactor with 24vdc coil for the new mill as we speak. An easy circuit but it gives me fits every few years when I have to do ...

Re: Encoder Basics
Hi all ,i have a 16 bit encoder differential driver receiver it says on my servo motor for my spindle ,with A+A-,B+B-,Z+Z- it is a 1.8kw servo motor from DMM tech that i use on my lathe . I was wondering if it would interface with the Acorn board ? Remember that the servo motor must drive your spin...

...guy building a cnc router and he used rubber hose and hose clamps to connect his steppers to the lead screws. Just wow. Yup, I did the same thing on my 1st router back in the late 90's. 1/4" lead screws, 6mm fuel injection hose from the auto shop where I worked. Put the hose on as a tempora...

Ah HAH! I looked closer at the pic & saw your R/C Pattern trophy. Should'a known, a freakin' pattern pilot! Lemme guess, you wore a club shirt with your name embroidered on it & spotless white tennis shoes! (Just KIDDING!)

Wow, that studio's really impressive! So how do you make really great musical creations without beer bottles & overflowing ashtrays lying around? (Nothing illegal in the ashtrays of course.)

Re: Missing ability to import DFX file
I asked a similar question about .dxf import here & the answer was no: http://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=1093&p=5477#p5477 No LazyCam here (thank goodness!) B/F it will have to be an Intercon manual re-do from the .dxf or a CAM program (like Sheetcam, etc) conversion of sa...

$10.00 says Dave lines up his house shoes exactly 90 deg. to the bed rail before going to sleep!
Seriously though, your controls setup looks fantastic. All your electrons are all marching in proper alignment before hitting the motors so there's no chance for error!
