Re: System stuck in benchtest

Ivan: When I just swapped over, I had the same issue with the Wizard not wanting to save all my changes. Turns out what I'd done is gotten ahead of myself on the instructions, and deleted the CNCL folder before I Uninstalled it. That left the old Wizard behind- or parts of it- and they didn't play w...

Re: Who is up and running on CNC12 4.14?

So far it appears mine is up and running under 4.14. 1956 11" Logan lathe conversion: http://docsmachine.com/cnc/images/CNCLoganLathe.jpg It's not complete yet- is anything like this every truly complete? - but it appears to be currently fully functional. Can't say I've given it a rea...

Ah. Yep, I entered that, but must have missed clicking 'save' at that step. Homing restored, thank you!

Re: Version 4.14 - Issues to Report, Please post them here

Just loaded the update, ran across the first issue: my X-axis limit switch no longer functions. Converted Logan lathe, Leadshine-style drivers running Automation Direct closed-loop "hybrid" steppers. First or second gen Acorn, prior to the detachable cable blocks. Add-on 8-solenoid board, ...

Re: Help with lathe tutorials

Oh, and I finally got to see the CSS working properly- the spindle speed ramped as it made the profiling passes.

Finally getting somewhere with this thing. :D

Re: Help with lathe tutorials

Spot-on, sir! I did in fact think I needed to swap that from the tutorial- I was afraid I'd crash something since the instructions assume a turret and 'rear' tools. Classic overthinking... Anyway, the graph finally appeared to be pretty much spot on (at least, that's how it looked to my clearly-not-...

Help with lathe tutorials

I've finally had a chance to sit down with my Logan lathe conversion and start working through the tutorials. I had a great deal of difficulty this last weekend until i realized the manual I'd downloaded and printed out, from back near the first release of the Acorn board, was badly out of date. (Th...

Re: Setting lathe threading tool?

Good advice, I hadn't thought of that! Thanks, guys!

On a similar note, I was looking at my library-to-be and thought the same thing of my 1/4" round profiling bit, and the square-insert bit, both of which basically point straight in. How would you treat those?

Setting lathe threading tool?

I'd like to double-check on how to set a lathe threading tool. I didn't see anything (well, anything obvious anyway :D ) in the manual specifically about setting threading tools. I'll assume one sets the X just like the rest of the tools, by touching off a turned diameter. That one I'm reasonably su...

Re: Acorn VS Tormach

My bad. I was just saying that for the price of the new Tormach you can get a Hass mini mill. -And every time I hear somebody say that, I have to keep in mind what they actually mean is "for the price of a top-of-the-line, nearly-all-the-bells-and-whistles Tormach, plus ten thousand dollars , ...
