yep, you can do it and it has been done. i'll have to dig around to find notes on it. maybe marc or scott could comment.
others have installed encoders on the spindle as well. not only to gain accurate rpm feedback but also for rigid tapping capabilities

Re: CNC Router - Startup Problems
if you have a dc3io , centroid offers the MPU11 Legacy Add upgrade path. here is a visual diagram with prices showing the basic connections. this allows you to run a modern PC with windows without having to change any wires in the electrical cabinet. the mpu11 eliminates your cnc10 card that plugs i...

Re: CNC Router - Startup Problems
your system would be a good candidate for an upgrade. many of the good cnc components can be reused. centroid has several nice upgrade paths depending on the system configuration and supports most of its older components in combination with the new software and hardware. send photos of the electrica...

Re: CNC Router - Startup Problems
that message is saying that the cnc software can not find the CNC control card that is plugged into the mother board.
so carefully removing and reseating the CNC10 card from the PCI slot in the motherboard would be the first thing i'd try. with the power off of course.

some photos of my home built CNC router using Allin1DC
I thought some of you might like to see some photos of my home built CNC router. I built this system around a Centroid Allin1DC CNC control board. It is a 3 axis X,Y,Z machine with a moving Gantry that has two servo motors and two ballscrews on the Gantry axis (Y axis) so it is driven on both sides ...

Re: Ajax DM45NC Mill
try with the saddle flush with the bed. if you look in the software travel limits section of the cnc software..that would be a big hint as to where the home position is set to. if the Y axis travel limit is set to a negative number..then i would suspect that the home position would be the saddle flu...

machine home is not part zero, the DRO is telling you how far away from part zero the machine is sitting at. also called a "Work Coordinate"
