Coordinate rotation system -- a boon!
For those who don't have it, and who do a lot of work with their machines, I didn't know just how much time would be saved by the CSR option until I broke open my chained-shut wallet and bought it. I can tell you - from the standpoint of someone who's mill runs 4-6 hours a day - that the CSR option ...

Re: vfd drive
We converted our R2E4 to single-phase with ease (even BEFORE we bought the Centroid control, when we were still running on the BOSS-9 control). No need to keep that roaring converter going!

Re: Z axis brake
In that same vein, is there a way to only engage the brake after a fixed time delay after spindle-off? Although it works, we don't like the R2E4 spindle brake. It's just too violent. Yet, we need it for tool changes. So, we leave it completely manual. But it would be nice if one could time the appli...

A 'resume point' feature?
I've looked for a way to do this, and not finding one I (naturally) assume there isn't one -- which may be wrong. We work in an area with thunderstorms EVERY afternoon during the summer. Although we can reasonably adequately protect minor electronics like computers and their ilk, we cannot effective...

Just a follow-up on now many hours of use
I had to follow up on my original "success story". I've got roughly four hours per work day on my old R2E4 re-fitted with the centroid package, and it's just dandy. I rarely have a glitch (say, once every two or three months), and I run ten-hour jobs without worrying whether they'll comple...

Re: Max acceleration/deceleration AllInOneDC
Thanks, Scott. That explains how it works, and what the ramp will look like. I can do the arithmetic myself <G>.

Re: Max acceleration/deceleration AllInOneDC
Ok, that answers a 'config' question. We let the control auto-tune itself, and we have seen no problems with overshoots or any adverse noises. One of the guys brought the question up during lunch, and I couldn't answer. It's obviously not critical to our use of the machine, but it would be nice to u...

Max acceleration/deceleration AllInOneDC
We had a discussion yesterday in the shop for which I could find no answers in the manuals. How fast, in i/s/s can the AIODC accelerate and decelerate (properly, on healthy hardware)? Off-hand, I don't remember which servos we bought, but it was for an R2E4 conversion, they are your servos and power...

Re: Maybe an obscure bug
I have that fix, so far as I know (have to check, but I have a pretty new unit). I turn down the speed knob any time I want until motion entirely stops, and "Feed Hold" is displayed. Then I can neatly run it back up from there. Never a problem until this guy showed me 'how'. This ONLY happ...

Re: Maybe an obscure bug
Scott, thanks. No, it's not a feed hold pause due to getting the knob below the hold threshold. Many times, the trainees will stop the feed with the feedrate knob in order to guestimate the distance from the stock. This is the only guy who 'twitches' the knob. The others move smoothly to a low rate,...
