Re: 325 Limit Error?

Marty, Maybe these schematics will help explain my concern and remedy. You can see in the current design that the current path between motor driver and Acorn box is over two separate cables. The way I wired it, the path is entirely within the DB-25 so should have better noise immunity. A floating 5V...

Re: 325 Limit Error?

This terminal block connects the four Pulse+ and four Dir+ wires to the positive side of my floating 5V supply. It also connects the negative side of my floating 5V supply to the 8 COM leads out of the DB-25 cable. In the Acorn, all eight of the COM leads of the DB-25 are connected together. At the ...

Re: 325 Limit Error?

I was seeing the failure in less than 20 minutes. After rewiring, I went for 30 minutes with no failure. This doesn't constitute proof that it is fixed but is certainly a good sign. Here are a few pictures of what I have now. They show: * EStop run in two-conductor shielded cable with the shield con...

Re: 325 Limit Error?

This does make a lot of sense. I believe that the general strategy here is to use the paired wires inside the shielded cable to provide magnetic isolation while the shield tied at one end to the case ground is giving us electrostatic protection. Noise capacitively coupled to one of these cables caus...

Re: 325 Limit Error?

Marty, I'm using Inductive Proximity Sensor Detection Switch NPN DC6-36V LJ12A3-4-Z/BX which are open collector NPN. I'm interested in learning a source for the cable you find works best. I see plenty of cable with 2 conductors plus shield that should work but doubt they would be flexible enough to ...

Re: 325 Limit Error?

What shielded cable do people recommend? My home sensors use +24V and COM and are open collector. I assume that my EStop and limit switches don't need to be in coax.

Thanks,

Rick

Re: 325 Limit Error?

Shawn, I do plan to completely start over on my system and exactly follow the docs plus the suggestions made in this thread. I had a bad experience with Mach3 which was controlling my VFD. While changing a cutter, the spindle began to turn. I was able to get clear so was not hurt. Thus ended my trus...

Re: 325 Limit Error?

Marty, When I said the spindle was off, I meant that the VFD was on but the spindle was not turning. In this state, there was NO fault. I ran for longer than the longest time I had to wait for any fault. This doesn't mean that I wouldn't have gotten a fault one second after I stopped waiting. The ca...

Re: 325 Limit Error?

good, if you can get the error to show up that fast then it will be simple to figure out. its the really intermittent ones that are hard to track down.. i'd get the system back to basics.. with nothing but estop connected to the inputs. the message log is showing lots of probe tripped messages. Rem...

Re: 325 Limit Error?

Marty, The Avanexpress DB25 Breakout Connectors should arrive tomorrow. Unfortunately, house guests arrive at the same time so it might be a few days before I can make the change. Since I have no plans to control my VFD from CNC12, I'll just remove the existing circuit. Without this functionality, ...
