Re: Encoder counts wrong direction

by Gary Campbell » Tue Mar 06, 2018 5:58 pm You have a parameter for encoder counts? Try putting a "-" (minus sign) in front of it by DICKEYBIRD » Tue Mar 06, 2018 5:58 pm You can set the encoder count in the wizard to a minus value as in -8000 for a 2000 line encoder. The one on my lathe...

Re: Z axis Jogging and feed rate problem

What are the Setup >Config > Mach > Jog Fast/Slow / Max rates set at? I got it figured out you have to set the max rate first and then you can set the others , but for the life of me i do not know how they got set to the 6.3 figure as i did not change it . It was at the default last i looked !

Z axis Jogging and feed rate problem/ RESOLVED

I am having a issue with the Z axis jog rate in the wizard being stuck at 6.3 and i can not change it ,it does the same for the feed rate .

Re: Threading problem lathe

by diycncscott » Mon Feb 26, 2018 6:04 pm I don't know if this is the case or not with DMM but some drives report encoder position in "bursts". ie.. They output a number of pulses that represent the number of degrees the shaft has rotated in a given time period but each pulse does not rep...

Re: Threading problem lathe

[So the encoder is connected to the servo and not the spindle? How is the servo connected to the spindle - is it a V-belt, or some sort of cogged belt? The encoder may very well show the correct rpm since you are essentially averaging 8000 pulses to get the rpm. However, there is only ONE index pul...

Re: Threading problem lathe

Does every pass shift from each other or just the first/second one? My first guess is noise on the encoder output from the DMM. Does the RPM fluctuate a lot on the Screen? The spindle will fluctuate 1 to 2 rpm on the screen same on the pulleys , and the passes are random . If you try and cut a 1/2 ...

Re: Threading problem lathe

Is the spindle encoder 1:1 with the spindle; i.e. one spindle rev = 1 encoder rev? The controller uses the index pulse from the encoder to sync the start of the thread. If there is a any kind of gear reduction in the encoder connection, you will get threads like you are describing. The spindle is 1...

Threading problem lathe

Hi all , i am having a problem with the threading on my lathe ,first pass fine all other passes out of sink with first pass . Using Dmm tech 1.8kw servo motor for spindle 16 bit encoder 8000 pulses per rev., driven 1 to 1 ratio . I looked at the pid and i can see the spindle pulses counting up and d...
