Re: Smoothing With Acorn or Fusion or Both
Smoothing in fusion I find is mainly to reduce file size and data points for old machines. I have a ‘96 mazak vtc at work and I have to run real loose smoothing tolerances therwise it sounds and looks like it’s having an epileptic fit. I found cnc12 can process the data plenty quick enough and doesn...

Re: Hercus PC160 Lathe Project
The max feedrate I calculated to be limited by the 100kHz pulse frequency as 3000rpm. The motor and drive will exceed that. With 2mm/rev lead screws I get 6000mm/min and it’s happy to jog around at that speed and I haven’t had it fault in me while jogging around. My observation is that is doesn’t er...

Re: Hercus PC160 Lathe Project
The VFD i ordered finally arrived so i was playing around bench testing it like i did with the one for the mill. i couldnt find the same VFD as i used on the mill so i took a gamble and tried this KCLY brand drive. i could find very little on the internet about them and was hoping like heck it came ...

Re: Centroid Acorn, Stepperonline DM542T's, NEMA 23's, need help please
As suggested above change the parameter to 100kHz. I never had to do this on my old version 2 acorn but the version 3 I have had to do that when running the db25 connection to get the leadshine dc servos to work. Have u got the home switches connected up? That’s the other thing that trips me up when...

Re: Hercus PC160 Lathe Project
here is a picture of a little something else i have started to flesh out. i have been thinking about building a mill from scratch even before discovering the acorn and getting the hercus mill has allowed me to get my head around the control side of things but after the lathe is properly up and runni...

Re: Hercus PC160 Lathe Project
Small update: i found out what that single board PC was which was originally fitted to the PC160. Its an advantech PCM-3370. unfortunately too slow to run the acorn as that would have been cool since its so small. Re: Hercus PC160 Lathe Project
Well I got a version 3 acorn board mounted up. I have the 24/5v power supply for the acorn and step/dir signals and also the 48v power supply for the servo drives. I tested it out with the one servo drive connected to the z axis. I found the carriage makes an ordinary noise when rapiding back and fo...

Re: DMM, ClearPath and DM542 running together
Yeah I have been playing with leadshine ac & dc servo drives and found them to work quite well. I’m actually in the middle of machining up a new ball screw mounting bracket to replace the acme thread in the pc160 lathe I’m retrofitting using my dtm320 and acorn. The dimensions have been spot on ...

Re: Step Frequency
Thanks for the explanation Keith. I can confirm that my leadshine acs806 drives accepted 400kHz option but has signal noise issues. instead of addressing my cabling issue I just changed electronic gear ratio and ran at lower frequency. It claims 600kHz and requires min 0.85us duration. The dcs810v2 ...

Re: Step Frequency
Hi Kieth, yes some of the older post we mine with issues I had with leadshine ac servo drives. Can u explain the 5v, 24v thing to me as I thought the acorn just closed the circuit as the 5v is supplied by a separate power supply. Gary, the manual only requires a resistor when Vcc is greater than 5v....
