I usually make the first run with a shorter than needed length, measure, adjust and second run is perfect, since it is no problem to tap a thread twice.

Windows defender is working ok with CNC12, but I also allow LAN only for updates or if I use CAM to post gcode...

CNC12 is not with closed loop control of the spindle at 0-10V An exactly stop at depth in the g code will not be possible, but the small overshoot is exactly reputable in the same material The dwell will do noting, but the spindle drift. Do you not use a WMPG?

If not, using an input for a FeedHold / CycleStart switch is also no big deal.

Common cause of drives not responding after update is different setting of Enable in the Wizard Advanced Axis setup.
