Re: AC Servo suggestions?
I am using JMC AC Servos for axis and spindle, they work very well. Uwe Where is your preferred place to buy these? Do they have a decent programming software and documentation ? How is the auto tuning? Currently have some ethercat delta B3A servos. I like that they have STO and allow me to use aco...

Re: Acorn single axis
Hey Kevin, I don’t see any reason why this wouldn’t work, although it seems like there won’t be much savings. It will require a Computer, screen, driver, motor, linear scale, and all of the supporting electrical equipment(including any needed safety equipment). Personally, I would take a different a...

Re: Replacement Ethernet components
I’d say your electrician owes you a new acorn system. The switch is maybe $20 the cost of the ether1616 board, I can understand them not wanting to break up prebuilt kits. I know it is a pain, but I’d say you need to buy an entirely new kit. The risk is that you fry each additional component you add...

G112 on lathe? Milling flats with live tooling
I have searched the lathe users manual and it seems it isn’t possible, but does centroid support g112 or polar interpolation? The application I have is the same movement as cutting a flat on a part using a lathe with a c axis, live radial tooling, and an x axis (no y axis). You can see an example of...

Will Hickory ever support third party I/O?
I am interested in the hickory for an upcoming machine build, and actually standardizing around ethercat capable servo drives for my next acorn build so that I can test hickory when I am ready and if I need to expand the number of axis on the machine. I have an example use case that I find a bit ......

Modbus TCP, ethercat, Ethernet/IP spindle control?
Are there any plans for centroid to support a standard Ethernet based fieldbus standard like Modbus TCP, Ethernet IP, or ethercat for spindle VFD control? It seems like this could provide a lot of advantage to users since these protocols are fairly common. Could allow for better communication with t...

AC Servo suggestions?
All, I'm interested in exploring AC servos for use with the Acorn. I have considered clearpath as well, and may go with them, but It seems like the cost quickly approaches AC servos when looking at the higher power NEMA 34 clearpath motors. Looking for any suggestions that work with the step/dir inp...

Re: A couple of feature requests
Hi! thanks we always welcome feature requests. 1.) i'll add it to the list, but there is an easy way to figure out the xy position of a BHC and once you have the first one programmed you just type in the xy coordinates of the second one and press f10 2.) for this one , we are in the process of 'bre...

Re: Multi Spindle CNC Router control options
For anyone else interested, I have a new updated plan. Based upon some more research into the Fusion 360 Post Processor, it appears a complete solution is much simpler than I originally thought. 1. Configure the machine with 4 linear axis, X, Y, Z, W 2. Set custom machine parameters that provide an ...
