Re: How to connect a TouchPlate and a ToolSetter at the same time

No - I'm defeated. It can see when the tool setter / touch pad is connected (and objects when it isn't) and the input status changes when the touch pad is grounded (Alt-I etc). But when I ask for it to auto detect the tool length it goes upwards , away from the touch pad and then sits at the top pos...

Re: How to connect a TouchPlate and a ToolSetter at the same time

BTW, what did you do about the "probe detect" input - can you share one input between both probes? Otherwise you must choose between not using probe detect - or using up 4 inputs. Edit - I have the NC probe working nicely but the NO touch plate (tool setting) function makes the spindle ret...

Re: How to connect a TouchPlate and a ToolSetter at the same time

Excellent timing, Fredsan! Today I have been connecting up my touch pad for tool lengths (NO) and also a butchered Renishaw MP1 probe for work probing (NC). So you have saved me hours of grieving and trials. The touch pad works of course but without your changes the probe isn't about to do anything ...

Re: How to use 6 limit switches to limit 3 axis at both extremes

Keith - you say "wire the other three switches in series with the Estop with a momentary override" - do you mean to wire in a push to test switch that will take the e-stop line down to ground so you can move away from the limit condition? Trying to understand how to implement this - sounds...

Re: centroid all in one pc

Dunno why the secrecy! The one shown is a Dell - but Dell doesn't seem to make it any more. Presumably Centroid have a load in stock still. I found a used MSI Pro 24T 6M on ebay (UK) for £400 - works nicely so far. https://www.msi.com/All-in-One-PC/Pro-24-6M.html I see that Shuttle also make a nice ...

Re: Gear ranges

Hi Scott Sorry, I should explain. I have 2 electrically selectable ranges. If the spindle speed needs to be 1000rpm or higher, it needs to select the high range. Below that it needs to be the low range. So the controls would select the correct output status (high solenoid or low solenoid) before ena...

Re: Gear ranges

Keith - any suggestions on the gear selection? Would I need to get into PLC programming to automatically select the correct gear?

Thanks

Re: Spindle Speed Encoder

Hmm. You wouldn't be standing in front of my machine with a belt and pulley in your hand for long. The head is a solid cast iron thing, full of gears with a large power drawbar on top, so not much chance there I'm afraid. It was a major job just to get sensors onto the bull gear. If I can't generate...

Re: Spindle Speed Encoder

I have the same issue, as I posted at the weekend (no reply yet). There are differential line drivers that should do the trick like this: http://www.shop.cncdrive.com/index.php?productID=259 . Datasheet here: http://www.cncdrive.com/downloads/Diff_line_driver_manual.pdf Are there other alternatives ...

Re: Gear ranges

My Shizuoka has a 2 speed spindle with solenoids to select high or low ratio - and switches to indicate which range is currently selected. Rather than having to manually select the range and let the Acorn (in my case) see this from the switch inputs, is there a way to use one or two of the outputs t...
