Yaskawa Sigma drives - can index (phase C pulse) be combined for homing

I am thinking of retrofitting a Yaskawa servo equipped mill to use a Centroid Acorn. I would like to use the index pulse (phase C pulse) of the drives for accurate homing of the axes to an index pulse. I retrofitted a mill with DMM DYN4 drives and combining the signals works great and only uses one ...

Re: Smoothing? <resolved, bad ballscrew support bearing>

I've had good luck with VXB bearing. Looks like they have a variety of quality in that size:

150 IPM limit with v4.14? ( Resolved )

Under v4.12 I was able to run a maximum of 300 IPM on my knee mill with DYN4 servo drives. When I try to change maximum speed setting in the wizard for v4.14, it will not allow me to enter 300 IPM, a pop-up window says only allow a maximum of 150 IPM is allowed. I am running the "free" ver...

V4.14 and DYN4 - MUST SET DB25 SECTION TO SCREW TERMINALS!

When upgrading to v4.14 and using DYN4 servo drives, you must select "Set to screw terminals" under the DB25 tab or your servo "enable" signals won't work and your step direction will be reversed.

Re: Acorn Advanced Homing sequence to marker pulse

I think I figured it out:

M92 /X L1 ; Move to +X limit switch and back off until it clears.
M105 /X P-2 F1 ; Move -X at 1 IPM until input 2 closes.
M106 /X P2 F0.5 ; Move +X at 0.5 IPM until input 2 opens.
M26 /X ; Set X home position.

I'll have to test it our later this evening.

Re: Acorn Advanced Homing sequence to marker pulse

I would like to utilize the index pulse from the DYN4 servo drives, but back off index mark (change the state of the input) after it has been found so that I can use one input for all three drives. If the following moves the X axis in the positive direction at 3 IPM until Input 2 closes: M106 /X P2 ...

Re: Weird movement / output to DYN4 - slow jerky rotation

Thanks Jake!

I put a ground jumper on like you posted and it works great now...even homes good :D

It did sound like some ground issue, but I thought I had all the bases covered.

Thanks again!

Weird movement / output to DYN4 - slow jerky rotation

I'm starting a bench setup of a Acorn and DMM DYN4 drives. This is for a 3 axis knee mill. So far, I have done the following: 1. Ran the DMM/DRV software to set up the drives for each axis (Gear Number, Pulse/DIR, Position). 2. Changed the command input to RS232 and ran the autotune software to tune...

Wizard will not allow All-Limits - PLC compile error

I started working on my configuration with the the Acorn Wizard and found that if I select All-Limits for any of the 8 inputs, it will result in a PLC compile error. I am able to configure any of the 8 input to use as All-Homes.

Could this be a bug in the wizard?
