Re: New Project! (Chevalier bed mill, Allin1DC retrofit)

Thank you for the response, Double checked the CNCM.HOM file, it was all correct. I finally got the courage to use the auto homing. It worked as it should. However, when in the setup screen under find home the Z axis only travels in the Z minus direction. I was using that to verify that things were ...

Re: New Project!

Slow going but got proximity switches on all axes, X and Y home out correctly, but Z is homing out in the Z- direction, is there a way to Invert it? The axis otherwise is moving correctly.

Re: New Project!

Ok, So I put 110v through the transformer, came out to 80v after the cap. Had motors out of machine for testing on workbench replaced encoders with ones provided, did a temp plug solution, all motors turn and encoders read correctly. Its a small victory. I replaced encoders, but when I removed the c...

I'm probably in the wrong forum section.
I am a machinist by trade and teach machining at a technical college. I have access to machines but like my own projects.

Re: New Project!

Hey Marty, I was thinking the transformer was needed, but if not then I will put it back with the dynapath. actually going to reuse the servos from the machine, they are 40 in/lb 160v , Ordered a chinesium Spindle with BT 40 Spindle cartridge, Mount, drive, belt, but if I cant make it move in X,Y,or...

Re: New Project!

Took a new job so was put on back burner, But back on it, Finally. So going through got wired up to the actual servos. The machine has a transformer, pic attached. Not sure if it would be worth it to use. Unfortunately, in my knowledge 220v consists of 2 hot leads i assume 230v does as well but the ...

Re: New Project!

Update!
Finally got it moved into position. Received my Allin1DC, looking at the hook up schematics, not sure which one is best to use for my application. I will be using a VFD, has a coolant pump, automatic oiler, power crowbar. Any hints? Thanks in advance.

Re: New Project!

hi Marty, watch a ton of your YouTube videos. They are brushed DC servos, If I'm going through the trouble to upgrade was just considering AC servos because I already have them, and Acorn because I was already building a control for another machine. The All-in-one is more than budget allows, was thi...

Re: New Project!

Thanks, everyone. Spindle motor is off the machine, needs to be rewound or replaced, Still have some work to do to actually get it in place, slowly but surely. Actually the head looks identical to a bridgeport.. Except its BT- 40. Too good of a deal to pass up.
